Red Lantern, Back Bay

Last night I went to a place where I should have gone a long time ago - Red Lantern, located in the beautiful Back Bay on 39 Stanhope St.

First of all, this place is HUGE! The decor of the restaurant/lounge is infused with Oriental elements including eastern figurines placed all over, giant red lanterns (LOL, obviously) hanging from the ceiling which provided the perfect red hue on the gold, black, and wooden furniture and floors. The ornamentation of the place is so sleek and cultured. A very Buddha Bar-esque feel to the place which Boston has needed for a LONG time!

The main reason why I am truly obsessed with this place however is because of the music. For the past 5 years, I have become a devotee to lounge/acid jazz (Buddha Beats, Thievery Corporation, Gotan Project, etc) and I thought I was the only freak in the world in my age bracket who listens to "elevator music" on the regular until of course I learned about Buddha Bar. The music at Red Lantern wasn't exactly Buddha Beats but it was definitely up that alley. I love that there is a popular place in Boston that is dedicated to the entire theme of this genre of music. I felt right at home at Red Lantern.

To sum things up, Red Lantern was the last piece of the puzzle for me when it comes to Boston. The drinks were fabulous and definitely not ridiculously priced, the ambience was exotic and oozed sensuality, the crowd was awesome (I made some great connections) and the music was unquestionably good. After last night, Red Lantern has easily become my favorite place in Boston. I would love to come back here for some sushi before my big move to NYC. Ciao bellas!

  1. Hi there,

I am the Marketing Associate for Red Lantern and thank you for writing such a great review of our venue. I believe you may have the wrong Red Lantern logo as that restaurant is not ours. You can find ours at www.redlanternboston.com

I would love to post your blog on our social media so if you could update your blog post with our actual logo, that would be fantastic.

    Thank you!
