Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga, Brookline Village

Ever since I moved back from my little stint in New York City, I have been aching to do hot yoga. Truth be told, the only thing better about NYC than Boston is that there is a hot yoga studio at every 5th block. We barely have any here!

Thankfully, there is one studio dedicated strictly to hot yoga in Brookline Village which is a hop, skip, and a jump from my office. How convenient! Baptise Power Vinyasa Yoga is located at 21 Harvard Street amongst many other workout places. What sets this place apart from the rest? The warm (literally) welcoming ambiance the studio offers.

All staff members at this studio are so kind and patient with their beginner as well as experienced yogis. People of all levels are welcome to practice with each other. This is nice because beginners such as myself are inspired by the expert 70 year old who is standing on his head next to you effortlessly.

Baptiste Yoga offers new clients a 30-day unlimited pass for only $40 which is a complete steal! This pass allows you to feel out the studio as well as the form of yoga. I will definitely be coming back regularly after my pass has expired. I am now determined to become a hot yogi expert.

Ah, I feel so relaxed today :)

A Tribute to Love

I'll be honest, I've become very cynical in the past two years concerning love and marriage. After witnessing a demise in marriage & love in my own family as well as witnessing other relationships around me, I had decided that love was a myth. However, I've changed my mind...

This past weekend, my eldest sister married her beau of several years. Their union was the most beautiful, genuine, love-filled wedding I have ever been to in my life - and trust you me, I have been to way too many weddings. (Ask my bank account ;) I admired how the wedding was about them as opposed to their guests - as weddings normally are.

I hope I am as lucky as my sister and her husband in finding a soulmate. Here are a few pictures from the joyous occasion. I am proud to say that the woman in the photos is my sister. She is a princess! Best wishes to the cutest couple. Welcome to our family Ayo!

A Painful Parting from Presto's...Cleveland Circle

Yesterday was an exceptionally sad day for myself and the many loyal customers of Presto's in Cleveland Circle. On Monday June 11, 2012, Presto's - a family owned pizza joint with so much charm and wit - suddenly shut its doors forever, breaking the hearts of residents in Brighton.

Presto's holds a very special place in my heart for multiple reasons. The first one is bad but I guess good ... I broke my years of Pescatarianism with their psychedelic chicken wings that still make my mouth water when I think of them. The second, I got my first movie role through someone I met at Presto's. Third, I became friendly with the guys who worked there. And last, it's just the best place ever.

I just had dinner there on Sunday night and didn't sense an inkling of it shutting down. It may sound stupid, but I feel like crying. Those who live in the neighborhood definitely share the sentiment. In an age where franchises and streamlined restaurants dominate the dining scene, Presto's was a breath of fresh air with its personable touch, old-school demeanor, and of course, fried dough. LOL

It is truly a loss in the community and Presto's can never be replaced. I wish those hardworking men who slaved hours in Presto's for the past 20something years, find something that can provide them with the same kind of satisfaction that Presto's did. A special shout out to Coach, Pedro, Jose, and yes, even the creepy Russian delivery guy. You guys will be missed dearly in the circle... :(
