T.M.I But Useful! Perhaps NSFW...

Patience is truly a virtue.

Today, I started my morning by going to Total Skin Care located at 1028 Commonwealth Avenue in Allston. What did I do there? Well, I don't think there's any other way to say it but, I got a Brazilian wax for the first time in my life.

I was obviously very scared and lost some sleep over the ordeal. Even though it is EXCRUCIATINGLY painful (especially the first time), I have to say the worst part is the anticipation and the best part is Barbara.
In any case, I had heard about Barbara of Total Skin Care from a lot of my friends. I heard nothing but wonderful things, so naturally, when I knew I wanted to do this, I decided to go with the famous Barbara. When I say she is hilarious, I mean she is so funny that I was scared I was going to pee from laughing when she was waxing me, which would have been absolutely horrifying!

Barbara makes a conscious effort to make you feel comfortable. I have never had a woman touch or look at me down there except for my mom, so at first I was really uneasy. By the end of it however, I was walking around in the buff. HAHA not quite, but you get my point. She completed the job with finesse. Not to mention, she spent as much time as I needed. Normally, a Brazilian appointment is no more than 30 minutes, but she spent 1.5 hours with me! (Yeah, I know, I'm a wuss...) I don't think too many other aestheticians would do that. She took breaks with me when I needed them. She never got frustrated even though I shrieked the F bomb every time she pulled. In fact, she screamed with me! We chatted about our lives. We laughed. We just had a lovely morning together haha.

Seriously though, I don't think I will ever want to go to anyone else after this. She is clearly an connoisseur in her field. I recommend her to EVERYONE - male, female, newbie, or pro. Yes, it was painful, but it was fun. I will definitely not be as scared for the next time and actually will be looking forward to chatting it up with her again. One piece of advice that I probably should have done: take an Advil an hour before you go...might alleviate the pain somewhat... Ciao!

P.S. I feel like I am 5 years old if ya know what I mean ;) Thanks Barbara!

Jillians, Fenway

Last night, a group of my friends and I went to Jillians in the Fenway Park area. Now, I usually don't do the casual bars, BUT I really liked this place!

Jillians is HUGE! I hate going to tiny, crowded places. I always feel like a turtle for some reason. Not only is Jillians a fun bar with really cheap drinks, but it's also a bowling alley! I spent a total of $10 here last night and left pretty inebriated. Not too shabby. I wouldn't come here all the time, but once in a blue moon, when I feel like chilling out and drinking some Blue Moons, I would come here again.

It was pretty empty last night but I am sure it would be a lot of fun with more people there. The music was great (top 40's) and I was in great company. I recommend Jillians to anyone looking to have a casual, fun night out with a big group of friends or anyone who likes bowling! Ciao til next time! XOXO

Something Nerdy I Felt Like Doing Part 2...

Beautiful Boston in the Fall... so serene.

The Met Bar, Newbury Street

On Thursday night, my friends and I went to The Met Bar after we crashed a skin care party. The Met Bar is where the old Joe's American Grill used to be. The Met Bar is an infant in the city of Boston; it's only 2 weeks old. That's why I am not going to be too harsh on the place.

The Met Bar is obviously in a very good area. What could be better than being on Newbury Street? There are 2 floors you can choose from. If you would like to class it up a bit, you should go upstairs. We went downstairs of course. (If it was up to me, we would have went upstairs) Downstairs was very casual. Sports games surrounded me on 8 televisions. By now, you should all know that these f&*king sports games follow me wherever I go. Old guys were undressing us with their eyes - always fun. The drinks were nice and strong but I have to say, a little overpriced for the ambience. Not to mention, the bartender legit checked our ids for 2 minutes AND asked for multiple forms of back-up. I admit, I look like I am 12 but there is no way my license is a fake. Jersey ones are just too colourful to fake.

Overall, The Met Bar was so-so. I don't really want to give a final verdict on the place because a.) I was only there for 45 minutes and b.) it's only 2 weeks old. Before I can give a substantial analysis of this bar, I am going to have to go again (and upstairs next time).

On an aside...

In case you didn't already know, today marks the first day of Victoria's Secret's HUGE online sale. I'd like to mention in particular how ridiculously inexpensive the swimsuits are! I just bought three sets for $35! UNBELIEVABLE! (Clearly, I am way too excited) But I suggest to all whether you going on vacation or not in the near future, buy your swimsuits NOW while they're this low in price! Happy shopping!

The Mandarin Oriental

Last night, my friends and I attended a wedding reception at the grand ballroom of the beautiful Mandarin Oriental in the Prudential Center. Everything was absolutely exquisite! We all had a wonderful and belligerent time! The open bar was amazing, yet dangerous ;) Mario Papathansiou played our favorite jams while we all danced ostentatiously with one another. The best part by far was the fried food that was being served around 1:30 AM. Boy oh boy was that a delight at the time! Overall, a fabulous party. Congratulations to Keri & Stephan! BTW, Keri looked stunningly gorgeous in her timeless gown.

BOND @ Langham Hotel, Post Office Square

Last night, a couple of my girlfriends wanted to go out for drinks, but none of us were in the mood to do anything too crazy. So we decided to go to BOND at the Langham Hotel in Post Office Square. Not only were we being extremely economical by deciding to take the T there, but we got on it for free! (It feels so amazing to get a free ride for a service that is overpriced anyway.)

I especially love going to BOND in the Fall/Winter because if there ever is a line to get in, it's always inside. You never have to freeze your tuchus off outside. Also, the coat check is complimentary which is always a plus!

The Langham Hotel itself is beautiful, but BOND is even more beautiful. Once you make it up the stairs, you are instantly wooed by how bewitching the place is. I appreciated the structure and design of BOND - the ceiling is really high, dark red and orange hues are splashed on the walls, mirrors are coming at you from every angle, glistening chandeliers are hanging from the ceiling, the seating arrangements are lovely, all creating a very sexy, dark ambience. You've heard me say this before but it is true, BOND is very Sex and the City-ish. In particular, I was reminded of Carrie's rehearsal dinner in the first SATC movie.

There was a Harvard Law School party going on, so the majority was pretty much talking to each other and not really mingling with strangers. We were totally fine with that as we bonded over our drinks and just enjoyed much needed girl time. In addition to the law kids, half of Kazakhstan's population were there, Jersey Shore cast member look-alikes (obviously, because they are EVERYWHERE now!), a sprinkling of handsome young Bostonian socialites (very few), and of course, the wannabe adulterous old men.

I think BOND is a great place to go for a girls night out. I definitely think it is a little bit underestimated because some people were dressed way too casually for this beautiful venue. I think that the music should have been more lounge-y. The washrooms are kind of inconveniently located - oh well. And OBVIOUSLY there was a TV with a football game on at the bar - what is with this stupid phenomenon!

I will definitely be coming back here again in the wintertime and that too, with more energy. The three of us were on the verges of falling asleep after each having one glass of the sweetest white wine in the house [ugh, we're getting old :(] Overall, I had a lovely and relaxing time here with my girlfriends. I highly recommend BOND to anyone looking for a relaxing but classy evening.

WARNING! If you come here wearing high heels, be very careful going down the staircase to the lobby aka THE STAIRWAY TO HELL. I trampled down these stairs on two separate occasions prior to my visit here last night and both times I was completely sober... hehe Ciao! xoxo

Giveaway of the Week!

I am really excited to be announcing my first giveaway EVER today. This one is really cool because you get the choice between two amazing services! And the prize is...

1 Microdermabrasion OR 3 Small areas of Laser Hair Removal ($200 value)
at Boston Medical Aesthetics

For those of you who do not know what either services are, let me explain. A microdermabrasion is a skin exfoliation that uses crystal to remove dead skin. It is pain-free and results are phenomenal. A microdermabrasion can improve the appearance of acne, scars, blackheads etc.

Laser Hair Removal [LHR]is an equally amazing phenomena in the aesthetic and dermatology world. The LHR service significantly reduces your hair growth. This too is also pain-free and has long lasting results. Say SAYONARA to your unwanted facial & body hair!

These services usually cost an arm-and-a-leg, so please take advantage of this giveaway! I promise it is not a hoax! And I also guarantee that the winner will love either/or of the procedures! (P.S. males are eligible too!)

Trivia Question: How many tips [materials] are available to use for a microdermabrasion?

Please answer the question in the comments section of this post and email me your mailing address - sumairaa724@yahoo.com. If you need refreshing on the offer and redemption details, refer to the video below!

Good luck everyone! I look forward to announcing the lucky winner on Monday! XOXO
