T.M.I But Useful! Perhaps NSFW...

Patience is truly a virtue.

Today, I started my morning by going to Total Skin Care located at 1028 Commonwealth Avenue in Allston. What did I do there? Well, I don't think there's any other way to say it but, I got a Brazilian wax for the first time in my life.

I was obviously very scared and lost some sleep over the ordeal. Even though it is EXCRUCIATINGLY painful (especially the first time), I have to say the worst part is the anticipation and the best part is Barbara.
In any case, I had heard about Barbara of Total Skin Care from a lot of my friends. I heard nothing but wonderful things, so naturally, when I knew I wanted to do this, I decided to go with the famous Barbara. When I say she is hilarious, I mean she is so funny that I was scared I was going to pee from laughing when she was waxing me, which would have been absolutely horrifying!

Barbara makes a conscious effort to make you feel comfortable. I have never had a woman touch or look at me down there except for my mom, so at first I was really uneasy. By the end of it however, I was walking around in the buff. HAHA not quite, but you get my point. She completed the job with finesse. Not to mention, she spent as much time as I needed. Normally, a Brazilian appointment is no more than 30 minutes, but she spent 1.5 hours with me! (Yeah, I know, I'm a wuss...) I don't think too many other aestheticians would do that. She took breaks with me when I needed them. She never got frustrated even though I shrieked the F bomb every time she pulled. In fact, she screamed with me! We chatted about our lives. We laughed. We just had a lovely morning together haha.

Seriously though, I don't think I will ever want to go to anyone else after this. She is clearly an connoisseur in her field. I recommend her to EVERYONE - male, female, newbie, or pro. Yes, it was painful, but it was fun. I will definitely not be as scared for the next time and actually will be looking forward to chatting it up with her again. One piece of advice that I probably should have done: take an Advil an hour before you go...might alleviate the pain somewhat... Ciao!

P.S. I feel like I am 5 years old if ya know what I mean ;) Thanks Barbara!
